Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc. has set up a production studio to develop and produce films and television shows based on the company's catalog of video game titles, The Hollywood Reporter reported May 20, citing an interview with executives overseeing the studio.
Headed by Asad Qizilbash and overseen by Sony Interactive Chairman of Worldwide Studios Shawn Layden, PlayStation Productions is working on its first slate of projects on the Sony Pictures lot in Culver City, Calif., according to the report.
PlayStation Productions will handle the production of the projects, while Sony Pictures Television Inc. will help with distribution.
Sony Interactive and Sony Pictures are units of Sony Corp.
