FERC approves gas projects for DJ Basin; FERC delays hurt Annova LNG deals

FERC approves Rockies Express hub, gas transportation projects for DJ Basin

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission conditionally authorized gas pipeline projects that would open up transportation routes for Colorado oil and gas producers. The gas transportation projects proposed by Rockies Express Pipeline LLC and affiliate Cheyenne Connector LLC would add firm transportation and hub services at the western end of the Rockies Express pipeline. FERC issued Natural Gas Act certificates to the companies for the Cheyenne Connector project and related facilities in a Sept. 19 order that was part of the commission's monthly meeting agenda.

Annova LNG says FERC delays hurt commercial deals, investment

Annova LNG pressed federal regulators to act on its application to build a natural gas export project on the Brownsville Ship Channel in Cameron County, Texas, noting that potential customers and investors have pointed to delays at FERC as bearing on their commercial decisions. In a Sept. 20 letter to FERC, Exelon Generation Co. LLC affiliate Annova LNG reminded FERC that in 2018, the commission had assured the industry that its staff was "very cognizant" of the financial market impacts of its LNG project schedules.

FERC approves small Eagle LNG export facility in Florida

FERC issued a certificate order Sept. 19 that conditionally authorized Eagle LNG Partners to build and operate a small LNG export terminal in Jacksonville, Fla., designed to serve the maritime industry and Caribbean natural gas demand. FERC had not published the order at the time of publication. The agency said in an emailed statement that it could not share more details on orders that are not yet available in its library.

Transco joins Atlantic Coast in offering alternative to Mountain Valley Southgate

Two pipeline companies argued to federal regulators this week that their lines can offer alternatives to Mountain Valley Pipeline LLC's Southgate project, contending that using the other systems would be preferable to accepting Mountain Valley's environmental impacts. Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Co. LLC told FERC on Sept. 17 that the agency had "completely overlooked" advantages of a Transco alternative.
