Moody's upgrades, withdraws certain National Penn ratings

Moody's on April 4 upgraded its ratings for Allentown,Pa.-based National Penn BancsharesInc. following the close of its acquisition by Winston-Salem, N.C.-based

Matching BB&T's ratings, Moody's lifted National Penn'ssenior unsecured debt and issuer ratings to A2 from Baa2. The outlook on theratings is stable, also matching BB&T's outlook. The rating agency alsowithdrew its issuer rating for National Penn, but it will keep the rating onNational Penn's $125 million of senior holding company debt at A2. The debt hasnow been assumed by BB&T.
