Coles recalls incorrectly labeled beef pies

Wesfarmers Ltd.-owned Australian grocery retailer Coles on Oct. 4 issued a recall of its own-brand beef pies due to a labeling error.

The recall affects 175-gram packages of Coles Express Big Yum Beef Pie with batch code 235/18, which have been sold since Sept. 1 at Coles Express stores across Australia.

Coles said its supplier inadvertently filled an undefined number of the beef pie wrappers with the Coles Express Big Yum Bacon and Egg Pie instead. Those incorrectly filled packages contain a higher quantity of egg than is declared on the label, presenting a risk of reaction in consumers with an egg allergy or intolerance.

Customers can return the product to any Coles Express site to receive a full refund.
