Report: Alibaba's mobile web browser considering partnerships for international expansion

Alibaba GroupHolding Ltd.-owned mobile web browser UCWeb is looking to expandinternational presence through partnerships with global media organizations,the South China Morning Post reportedApril 29.

Yu Yongfu, the president of Alibaba's mobile business unitand a co-founder of UCWeb, reportedly said the partnerships will help UC mobilebrowser become a new media platform that will offer customized news feeds forthe users, and help media outlets increase readership.

Under the partnerships, the media outlets will have "contentstores" on the browser, and run ads in the content displayed within UCHeadline's customized news feed.
