US homebuilder shorts decline in 2nd half of November

U.S. homebuilders saw average short interest fall 5 basis points between Nov. 15 and Nov. 30, reaching 6.10% of outstanding shares.

LGI Homes Inc. saw the biggest decrease in short interest relative to shares outstanding among SNL-covered homebuilders between Nov. 15 and Nov. 30. The company saw short interest fall 226 basis points to 20.70% of shares outstanding at the end of the period. The company also topped the list of most-shorted homebuilders during the period.

Lennar Corp. experienced the biggest jump in short interest relative to shares outstanding among SNL-covered homebuilders between Nov. 15 and Nov. 30. The percentage of the company's shares held short relative to shares outstanding climbed 172 basis points to 8.13% as of Nov. 30.
