Haier Electronics Group Co. Ltd. is eyeing partnerships with Japanese companies that can provide technology for its water heater business, Nikkei Asian Review reported Aug. 2.

The Chinese household appliance company identified six areas to design, including water temperature controllers and shower water softening technology with a maximum cost of 300 Chinese yuan, according to the report.

The Nikkei said Haier has tasked Osaka Prefecture's Shanghai office and the Yokohama Industrial Development Corp. to help reach out to potential partners.

As of Aug. 2, US$1 was equivalent to 6.72 yuan.
