BC Hydro awards Site C turbine, generator contract

BC Hydro andPower Authority has awarded a C$470 million turbines and generatorscontract for the 1,098-MW SiteC hydro project to Voith Hydro Inc., according to an April 6 newsrelease.

Voith Hydro will custom design, supply and install turbinesand generators at the C$8.34 billion facility which is expected to come onlinein 2024, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence data. "Voith wasselected because of its strong track record with similar complex projects, andits proposal offered BC Hydro the highest value design, within budget," BCHydro President and CEO Jessica McDonald said in a statement.
