C&A Textiles fiscal Q2 profit climbs 23.1% YOY

C&A Textiles Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Dec. 31, 2014, amounted to 50 poisha per share, a decrease of 99.2% from 65.26 taka per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 83.8 million taka, an increase of 23.1% from 68.0 million taka in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin declined to 11.9% from 13.0% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed 34.8% year over year to 704.8 million taka from 522.8 million taka, and total operating expenses climbed 47.8% year over year to 584.8 million taka from 395.7 million taka.

Reported net income rose 25.3% from the prior-year period to 130.9 million taka, or 78 poisha per share, from 104.5 million taka, or 100.31 taka per share.

As of Feb. 27, US$1 was equivalent to 77.88 taka.
