Lennar could acquire vacant property in Plantation, Fla.

Lennar Corp. could purchase an 11.8-acre vacant property in Plantation, Fla., from Broward County Public Schools, the South Florida Business Journal reported.

The Miami-based homebuilder is planning to develop 111 townhouses on the property at 100 S. Hiatus Road, which will be known as Enclave at Plantation.

The land use amendment will be evaluated by the city's review committee Dec. 10, along with the property's rezoning and site plan. The city council will consider approval for the application at a later date.

The school district's officials and Lennar's legal representative could not be reached for comment by the publication.
