Report: Outgoing RBS CFO in line for same role at HSBC

Outgoing Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC CFO Ewen Stevenson is believed to be among the favorites to replace HSBC Holdings PLC Group Finance Director Iain Mackay, The Times reported.

HSBC Chairman Mark Tucker has interviewed several candidates, including Stevenson, in recent weeks for the post, the report said.

RBS said May 30 that Stevenson, who has been CFO since May 2014, is leaving to take up an opportunity elsewhere. His departure has increased speculation that RBS CEO Ross McEwan, a fellow New Zealander, might also be preparing to leave. Among the favorites to succeed McEwan is Alison Rose, head of the bank's commercial and private banking arm.

Iain Mackay has been HSBC's finance director since December 2010.
