Tesla to set up stores at Home Depot for solar products

Tesla Inc. is setting up kiosks at about 800 The Home Depot Inc. locations to sell its solar panels and Powerwall battery, Bloomberg News reported Feb. 1, noting that the U.S. electric carmaker confirmed the news.

Tesla will begin selling at the home improvement retailer in the first half of 2018, the report said, adding that the retail outlets will have Tesla employees to demonstrate the products.

Lowe's Cos. Inc., Home Depot's closest rival in the home improvement segment, is reportedly also in talks with Tesla to sell its solar products, Bloomberg said, citing "people familiar with the situation".

One of the sources also told the news outlet that Tesla may in the future also roll out its solar roofs at Home Depot locations.

Lowe's and Home Depot declined to comment on the plans, Bloomberg said.
