Vattenfall partners with German renewables developer on onshore wind projects

Vattenfall AB and German renewables developer GAIA mbH have partnered to build onshore wind projects in Germany.

Together, the companies will develop wind projects in the Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate regions, they said in an Aug. 27 news release.

"Through strategic cooperation with Vattenfall, as one of the major energy providers in Europe, both partners can complement their strengths in order to achieve these goals together," GAIA Managing Director Michael Wahl said.

Sweden-headquartered Vattenfall, active primarily in Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and the U.K., plans to expand its onshore wind capacity in Germany and other European markets, in part, it said, through cooperation and regional partnerships.
