Alliant Energy energizes 6.2-MW solar project in Iowa

Alliant Energy Corp. on Oct. 18 announced that its two solar facilities in Dubuque County, Iowa, have started delivering a combined capacity of 6.2 MW to their customers.

The 5-MW West Dubuque Solar Garden and the 1.2-MW Port of Dubuque Solar Garden can power up to 850 homes yearly. "We're continuing to diversify our energy resources, and these additions are another step to help us reduce our carbon dioxide emissions by 40% by 2030, compared to 2005," Terry Kouba, vice president of Iowa operations at Alliant Energy, said in a company release.

A total of 19,160 solar panels were used for both projects.
