Score Digital Sports Ventures Inc. received initial approval from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement to engage in internet and mobile sports wagering activities in the state.
The authorization allows theScore Inc. unit to launch its sportsbook app with a select group of sports bettors ahead of its statewide launch, according to an Aug. 16 news release.
In July, the Toronto-based gaming and online gambling company entered into a multistate market access framework agreement with Penn National Gaming Inc. to offer online and mobile sports betting apps in 11 states where Penn National operates casinos and racetracks.
Late last year, theScore inked a licensing partnership with Darby Development LLC, operator of the Monmouth Park Racetrack and the New Jersey Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association, for a sports betting platform in New Jersey.
