Amedica refiles FDA application for cervical implant

Amedica Corp. has refiled an application with the U.S. FDA with a modified cancellous-structured ceramic-based cervical implant that is comparable to the company's commercially available ValeoC cervical implants.

The company made the filing after encouraging results from a recent study showing rapid bone growth into porous silicon nitride.

Explants of Amedica's porous silicon nitride from a large-animal model demonstrated bone healing into the material four weeks after implantation.
