Enel to construct 388 MW of solar in Brazil

Enel Green Power Brasil Participações Ltda. will construct a 388-MWdc new solar project in Brazil, after winning a public tender for the right to sign 20-year power supply contracts in the country.

The A-4 public tender was organized by the Brazilian federal government through energy regulator ANEEL. The Enel SpA subsidiary was awarded 49% of the 791 MWdc of photovoltaic capacity offered in the tender, according to a company release.

Estimated to cost about $355 million, the proposed São Gonçalo photovoltaic project will be located in São Gonçalo do Gurguéia municipality in the State of Piauí. The facility is slated to begin operations in early 2021 and is expected to produce more than 850 GWh of renewable energy annually.
