Siemens Gamesa secures contract to supply 294-MW wind project in Norway

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy secured a contract to supply turbines for three onshore wind farms in the Bjerkreim and Ha municipalities of Norway with a combined capacity of 294 MW.

The Spanish wind turbine manufacturer will deliver and begin installing 70 units of 4.2-MW turbines at a site in spring 2019, according to a May 24 news release. The three wind projects, known as the Bjerkreim cluster, are expected to reach completion in 2019 and include the 76-MW Skinansfjellet, 63-MW Gravdal and 155-MW Eikeland-Steinsland wind farms.

The Siemens AG subsidiary said a 25-year full service agreement with a yield-based availability warranty secures the long-term performance of the wind farms.

Hamburg, Germany-based asset manager LUXCARA GmbH will own and operate the Bjerkreim cluster, while Norway-headquartered Norsk Vind Energi AS will help plan and develop the project.

To date, Siemens Gamesa has installed more than 500 MW in Norway, with another 390 MW in the works.
