Insurance moves: Chubb announces promotions in Australia, New Zealand

Constance Weaver was elected to Citizens Inc.'s board.

Weaver currently serves as the CEO of strategic advisory firm Tracker Group.

Atlantic American Corp.'s board has named Rick Burns as executive vice president of the company.

He was also appointed executive vice president of susidiaries Bankers Fidelity Life Insurance Co. and Bankers Fidelity Assurance Co.

Burns started his career with Atlantic American as a marketing specialist and was appointed vice president of marketing in 2015.

Property and casualty

Chubb Ltd. has named David Furby senior vice president of Chubb Group and regional president of the European group, effective July 1.

Furby will be responsible for the general management and business results for all Chubb operations in the U.K., Ireland and Europe. Currently, he serves as vice president of Chubb Group and division president of commercial property and casualty for Overseas General Insurance, the company's international general insurance business.

Andrew Kendrick, who has led the company's European operations as regional president since 2004, plans to retire from Chubb at year-end. He will continue to serve as senior vice president of Chubb Group and as executive chairman of the European group through the end of 2018.

Additionally, the company named Timothy O'Donnell vice president of Chubb Group and division president of commercial property and casualty for Overseas General Insurance, succeeding Furby.

O'Donnell currently serves as executive vice president of financial lines and COO of commercial property and casualty for Overseas General Insurance. In his new role, he will be responsible for the company's international commercial property and casualty insurance business, including property, casualty, professional lines, energy and marine product lines.

Chubb also announced that Jalil Rehman, Chief Business Operations Officer, European Group, will be leaving the company, effective July 1.

Separately, Chubb also announced several promotions and appointments in Australia.

The company named John DePeters cyber and technology industry practice manager for Australia and New Zealand.

He will be responsible for Chubb's technology industry practice and the cyber portfolio in Australia. DePeters has moved to Sydney from Singapore where he was previously Chubb's regional cyber underwriter for the Asia-Pacific region.

Chubb further announced that Hayden Baker joined the company in April as financial institutions product manager for Australia and New Zealand.

Subsequently, Glenn Crombie now leads Chubb's commercial directors and officers portfolio in Australia and New Zealand.

In South Australia, Chubb promoted James McEntee to property distribution manager for South Australia and North Australia while Stuart Quigley was promoted to financial lines distribution manager for South Australia and North Australia.

AmTrust Financial Services Inc. has named J. Daniel Hickey group chief underwriting officer.

Hickey will oversee the company's global underwriting activities in his new role. He joined the company in July 2017 as executive vice president of business strategy and business development.
