VICE MediaInc. will exclusively launch its 24-hour channel in via pay TV operator in the autumn of 2016,according to an April 6 news release.
Under a partnership agreement, Canal Plus will make Vicelandavailable to basic TV subscribers of its direct-to-home platform Canalsat.Customers will be able to access the channel via live TV, on demand andover-the-top.
Film director and Viceland co-president Spike Jonze isoverseeing the development of the channel, whose content is expected to includelocalized programs for young French audiences.
VICE France, a joint venture between VICE Media and LesNouvelles Editions Indépendantes, will operate Viceland in France. The channellaunched in the U.S. and Canada in February and is set to in the and Ireland inSeptember via Skyplc.
Canal Plus is a unit of Vivendi SA.
