Recent drilling by Sierra Metals Inc. at its polymetallic Yauricocha mine in Peru encountered a new style of mineralization, hydrothermal breccia, at the Contacto Oriental zone extension within the operation's Central Mine.
The company said June 4 that the new zone is 220 meters east of current mining operations at Yauricocha, indicating reduced time and CapEx to integrate the zone into the mine plan.
Drilling on the new zone returned a highlight of 57.2 meters grading 1.86 g/t of silver, 0.54% lead, 0.28% copper and 9.53% zinc from a depth of 92.20 meters.
Sierra Metals has completed four drillholes from the 1070 level in the Contacto Oriental area, which intercepted polymetallic mineralization including high zinc and copper grades. Mineralization remains open at depth.
