QIAGEN CEO steps down; interim replacement named

QIAGEN NV said Peer Schatz has decided to step down as CEO and chairman of the management board.

Schatz will remain with the Netherlands-based company as a special adviser to its supervisory board and will move to that role in the coming weeks.

While the company's supervisory board searches for a permanent replacement for Schatz, Thierry Bernard will take over as interim CEO. Bernard currently is senior vice president and head of the molecular diagnostics business area.
