Debenhams appoints nonexecutive directors

British fashion retailer Debenhams PLC on Dec. 10 appointed John Walden and Kevin Conroy as nonexecutive directors to the board of its holding company, Celine Jersey Topco Ltd.

Walden is chairman of wine retailer Naked Wines PLC and a former CEO of Home Retail Group Ltd., which owned the catalog retail chain Argos. He has also held senior management roles at Best Buy Co. Inc. and Sears Holdings Corp.

Conroy is the founder of advertising agency Conroy Media and was previously president of digital and media for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. He was also on the boards of houseware retailer Newell Brands Inc. and art auctioneer Sotheby's Inc.

On Oct. 25, Debenhams named Mark Gifford, the former CFO of department store chain House of Fraser Group Ltd., as the chairman for Celine Jersey Topco.
