ECB holds rates in 1st post-Brexit meeting

The ECB's Governing Council kept key interest ratesunchanged at its first policy meeting after the U.K. to leave the EU.

The central bank's interest rates on the main refinancingoperations, the marginal lending facility and the deposit facility remain at0.00%, 0.25% and negative 0.40%, respectively.

"The Governing Council continues to expect the key ECBinterest rates to remain at present or lower levels for an extended period oftime, and well past the horizon of the net asset purchases," the centralbank said July 21.

The council also confirmed that the monthly asset of €80 billion willrun until the end of March 2017, or beyond, if necessary.
