McDermott, Baker Hughes to provide subsea services for West Africa gas project

McDermott International Inc. and Baker Hughes a GE company said March 11 they were tapped by BP PLC for offshore service works on the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim natural gas project located in Mauritania and Senegal.

The firms were awarded contracts for subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines and subsea production system. Installation is slated for late 2020.

McDermott's share in the contract is estimated between $500 million to $750 million.

The subsea infrastructure will connect the first four of 12 wells linked through production pipelines leading to a floating production, storage and off-loading vessel.

The awards follow an initial front-end engineering and design phase that was also awarded to the two companies in March 2018.
