Facebook Inc. will start offering subscriptions from video providers to U.S. users as part of a limited test over the next few weeks, Variety reported Aug. 8, citing a company representative.
The social networking giant is currently offering video subscriptions for BritBox, CollegeHumor’s Dropout, MotorTrend App and Tastemade Plus, with plans to add more partners at a later stage.
While Facebook will be handling payments on behalf of subscription video-on-demand partners, it remains unclear if the social media company will be retaining a share of the revenue.
The Tastemade Plus food-focused network is $2.99 per month, while both the Dropout comedy service and auto-focused MotorTrend App are priced at $4.99. The U.K.-focused BritBox TV streaming service costs $6.99 monthly.
