J.B. Hunt Transport Services Q3 profit falls YOY

J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. said its third-quarter normalized net income was 90 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 96 cents per share.

EPS decreased 7.3% year over year from 97 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $99.8 million, a decline of 9.5% from $110.3 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin declined to 5.4% from 6.5% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose 9.0% year over year to $1.84 billion from $1.69 billion, and total operating expenses rose 11.1% year over year to $1.68 billion from $1.51 billion.

Reported net income decreased 8.4% from the prior-year period to $100.7 million, or 91 cents per share, from $110.0 million, or 97 cents per share.
