Magellan Midstream extends open season for Texas pipe system commitments

Magellan Midstream Partners LP extended the supplemental open season to solicit additional shipper commitments on the western segment of its refined petroleum products pipe system in Texas.

The open season is now slated to close at 5 p.m. CT on Jan. 3, 2020, according to a Dec. 20 news release.

The partnership is expanding the pipe system's capacity to approximately 175,000 barrels per day from 100,000 bbl/d. Depending on the results of the open season, Magellan said it is considering adding another 25,000 bbl/d, boosting the pipe capacity to 200,000 bbl/d. Magellan Midstream is also constructing a new refined products terminal in Midland, Texas.

The pipe expansion and terminal are expected to be operational in mid-2020, while the possible additional capacity could be available by the end of 2021.

Magellan Midstream transports, stores and distributes refined petroleum products and crude oil.
