Dominion Energy Virginia will add new solar generation to its power grid to serve a new Facebook Inc. data center in Henrico County, Va.
The Dominion Energy Inc. subsidiary will file a new rate option called Schedule RF with the Virginia State Corporation Commission later in October, it said in an Oct. 5 news release. Upon regulatory approval, Schedule RF will allow Facebook to balance its annual energy needs with renewable energy delivered to the grid.
Dominion Energy Virginia intends to build multiple solar facilities across Virginia to supply Facebook, which intends to build nearly 1 million square feet of space in two separate buildings, and its customers.
