8point3 Energy wraps purchase of stake in 102-MW Calif. solar project

8point3Operating Co. LLC, a subsidiary of , hascompleted the acquisitionof a 49% stake in the planned 102-MW Henrietta solar project in Kings County, Calif.

The partnership agreed to acquire the stake from for in September.Southern Co. holds amajority stake in the project, which is expected to go online in October.Output from the facility is contracted under a long-term agreement withPG&E Corp.subsidiary Pacific Gas andElectric Co.

The partnership issued $102.6 million worth of class A shares to helpfund a portion of the purchase price of the acquisition.

8point3 Energy is a partnership between and SunPower.

In addition, the parties behind the sale of a 20.23-MW solarfacility in Kern County, Calif., have agreed to increase the size of theproject by up to 1 MW, according to a Form 8-K filed Oct. 3. The parties alsoagreed to increase the consideration payable by 8point3 Operating Co. for theacquisition by up to $1.6 million based upon the increased MW of the assetsacquired.
