Yamanaka swings to profit in fiscal Q3

Yamanaka Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 20, 2014, amounted to ¥10.82 per share, compared with a loss of 16 sen per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥208.4 million, compared with a loss of ¥3.0 million in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin increased to 0.8% from negative 0.0% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue increased on an annual basis to ¥24.84 billion from ¥24.30 billion, and total operating expenses totaled ¥24.58 billion, compared with ¥24.37 billion in the prior-year period.

Reported net income totaled ¥187.0 million, or ¥9.71 per share, compared to a loss of ¥50.0 million, or a loss of ¥2.59 per share, in the prior-year period.

As of Jan. 28, US$1 was equivalent to ¥117.73.
