Cinemark Holdings' Movie Club program crosses 350,000 active members

Cinemark Holdings Inc.'s Movie Club monthly subscription program has reached 350,000 active members, representing more than 1,000 members per theater.

Movie Club members represent about 6% of Cinemark's box office revenues and have a 75% redemption rate of Movie Club ticket credits, the company said Aug. 8. Among other benefits, the Movie Club offers one 2-D movie ticket at any show time for $8.99 per month.

Movie ticket subscription service MoviePass Inc., meanwhile, canceled a plan to increase prices and instead decided to limit subscribers to three movies a month. MoviePass launched its $9.95 per month unlimited movie ticket subscription in August 2017.

AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. on the other hand said its AMC Stubs A-List movie-ticketing subscription service reached 175,000 members in its first five weeks of operation, ahead of the company's internal forecast of 500,000 members one year from launch. AMC launched its $19.95-per-month subscription service in June.

Cinemark is a domestic and international motion picture exhibitor, operating 539 theaters with 5,998 screens in 41 U.S. states, Brazil, Argentina and 13 other Latin American countries as of June 30.
