PerkinElmer chairman/CEO to retire; COO named as replacement

PerkinElmer Inc. said Chairman and CEO Robert Friel will retire Dec. 29 and will also vacate his board seat.

Current President and COO Prahlad Singh will be the new CEO of the Waltham, Mass.-based life sciences company, effective Dec. 30. Singh was also elected to the company's board effective Aug. 21, according to PerkinElmer's press release.

Alexis Michas, who is on the company's board, was elected as the nonexecutive chairman to replace Friel.

Friel, who has been CEO of PerkinElmer for 12 years, will continue with the company as an adviser until March 1, 2020.

PerkinElmer develops technology for a range of markets including diagnostics, life sciences and food, with products ranging from humidifiers and screening instruments to software and reagents.
