XL Catlin appointed Byron Goebel, Eric Buttner and Alan Short senior underwriters on its excess casualty team.

Goebel and Buttner have joined the company's Dallas team. Goebel previously served as excess underwriter at CNA Financial Corp., while Buttner joins the company from Travelers Cos. Inc., where he worked as excess casualty account executive.

Short will join XL Catlin's Kansas City, Mo., office. Previously, he was an underwriting consultant with CNA Financial.
