FremantleMedia acquires Random House Studio

FremantleMediaLtd.'s North American subsidiary announced July 19 that it hasacquired Random House Studio, the film and TV unit of book publisherPenguin Random HouseLLC.

FremantleMedia North America also formed a partnership withChina's Meridian Entertainment to oversee Random HouseStudio's productions. Under the arrangement, FMNA will handle the TVadaptations while Meridian develops the theatrical slate. Random House Studioprojects currently in the works will go to FMNA.

Random House Studio Executive Vice President and General ManagerPeter Gethers will continue to lead operations. He will work with Meridianfounder and Chairman Jennifer Dong on movie projects and also remaineditor-at-large at Penguin Random House. Studio executives in Los Angeles willmove to the FMNA offices, while those in New York will be based at PenguinRandom House headquarters.

Financial details of both deals were not disclosed.
