An electrician working at a preparation plant in West Virginia died from injuries sustained after an electric shock, according to an Aug. 7 release from the West Virginia Office of Miners' Health, Safety and Training.

The fatal incident occurred at about 8 a.m. ET on Aug. 7 at the Kanawha Eagle Mining LLC South Hollow Preparation Plant in Kanawha County, W.Va. That operation is controlled by Blackhawk Mining LLC, according to the U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration.

Inspectors from the West Virginia Office of Miners' Health, Safety and Training are investigating the incident, according to the release. The workers' death is at least the sixth related to the coal industry so far this year.
