Workers at Vale's Moatize coal mine down tools over bonus dispute

Workers downed tools at Vale SA's Moatize coal mine in Mozambique in a dispute over bonus payments, Reuters reported Dec. 15, citing local television station Mozambican Miramar.

The strike resulted in work stoppage at the plant, according to the report.

The workers are seeking the reinstatement of the bonuses, which they claim were slashed by the miner due to a sharp decline in global coal prices.

Vale officials were not available to comment on the development, the newswire added.
