CSS Industries fiscal Q4 loss narrows YOY

4067853 said its normalized net income for the fiscal fourth quarter ended March 31 amounted to a loss of 13 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of a loss of 14 cents per share.

The per-share loss narrowed 7.6% year over year from 14 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was a loss of $1.2 million, compared with a loss of $1.3 million in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue fell year over year to $53.7 million from $54.6 million, and total operating expenses declined year over year to $55.6 million from $56.5 million.

Reported net income totaled a loss of $1.4 million, or a loss of 15 cents per share, compared to a loss of $1.6 million, or a loss of 17 cents per share, in the year-earlier period.

For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled $1.84 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus normalized EPS estimate of $1.84.

EPS was $1.83 in the prior year.

Normalized net income was $17.3 million, compared with $17.3 million in the prior year.

Full-year total revenue decreased from the prior-year period to $313.0 million from $320.5 million, and total operating expenses fell on an annual basis to $285.3 million from $292.5 million.
