Stephen Gold, chief information officer of CVS Health Corp., has left the company, The Wall Street Journal reported Dec. 18.

The departure comes before CVS' planned $69 billion acquisition of Aetna Inc., although a CVS spokesman told The Wall Street Journal that Gold's departure was not related. Gold left the company at some point during the week of Dec. 11 to "pursue professional opportunities outside CVS Health," according to the report.

CVS did not immediately respond to a request for comment from S&P Global Market Intelligence.
