Russian broadcasters mull Hulu-like platform

First Channel, JSC Gazprom-Media Holding, , and are consideringworking together to launch an online streaming platform in similar to Hulu LLC, Broadband TV News reported July 22, citing Kommersant.

The five Russian broadcasters are reportedly committed todeveloping the platform and are expected to make their decision by September2016.

The idea of a Russian online platform joint venture was firstproposed by the Media Communications Union in 2014 but did not materialize,according to the report.

First Channel, VGTRK, Gazprom-Media and National Media Grouphave earlier formed aRussian TV advertising alliance.
