Report: Alior Bank denies acquiring 10% stake in Bank Pekao

Alior Bank SACEO Wojciech Sobieraj denied a July 15 report in daily Gazeta Polska Codziennie that the Polish lender purchased a in Bank Pekao SA from UniCreditSpA for €749 million, Reuters reported the same day.

"What can I say? Untrue," Sobieraj said in a text sentto the newswire.

Sources told Reuters that the 10% stake in Bank Pekao was mainlysnapped up by foreign investors. PZUSA CEO Michal Krupinski recently said the Alior parent would look intoacquiring Bank Pekao andRaiffeisen Bank International AGunit Raiffeisen Bank Polska SA.
