Family sues Apple over 2014 car accident

A family that suffered a fatal traffic accident in Texas on Christmas Eve in 2014 has sued Apple Inc. for not implementing and installing a FaceTime feature that can bar people from using the app while driving.

In a lawsuit filed Dec. 23 with the Superior Court of the state of California, for the County of Santa Clara, the plaintiffs claimed a safer version of the iPhone 6 Plus would have avoided the accident and the injuries it caused, in addition to the death of a minor.

The plaintiffs are seeking a trial by jury, in addition to economic damages and punitive damages.
