Discovery Communications to invest in OTT sports platform RugbyPass

DiscoveryCommunications Inc. is to acquire a minority stake in RugbyPass, anover-the-top sports service platform for rugby fans across 23 Asian markets, Variety reported April 27.

New Zealand's Coliseum Sports Media launched RugbyPassin Asia in February, allowing rugby fans in the region to watch matches ondemand, in high definition. Among the featured rugby matches are Super Rugby,European Champions Cup, Aviva Premiership, and the 2017 British Lions Tour inNew Zealand.

RugbyPass subscribers will also get select content fromDiscovery-owned Setanta Sports Asia.
