Berjaya Media fiscal Q3 loss narrows YOY

Berjaya Media Bhd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Jan. 31 was a loss of 549,380 ringgits, compared with a loss of 628,130 ringgits in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis.

The normalized profit margin rose to negative 4.5% from negative 4.7% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue declined 8.7% on an annual basis to 12.1 million ringgits from 13.3 million ringgits, and total operating expenses fell 9.2% year over year to 13.0 million ringgits from 14.3 million ringgits.

Reported net income totaled a loss of 11.4 million ringgits, or a loss of 5 sen per share, compared to a loss of 5.2 million ringgits, or a loss of 2 sen per share, in the year-earlier period.

As of March 22, US$1 was equivalent to 3.98 ringgits.
