Accordingto news reports, the Atatürk Airportin Istanbul is closed, with traffic halted over two major bridges in the city.The military group has taken control of the state-run television station, whereit disseminated a statement claiming that it had seized control and imposedmartial law.
Reportsalso noted that there have been low-flying military jets over Istanbul and thecapital city of Ankara. Reports include pictures from social media of longlines at ATMs as people try to extract money.
PrimeMinister Binali Yildirim reportedly said there is an uprising from within thearmy but that the elected government is still in power.
