SunPower Corp. is partnering with German energy management solutions provider sonnen GmbH to launch a new program offering home solar energy systems and electricity storage to SunPower's residential customers across the U.S.

"By enabling our dealer network to pair sonnen's reliable battery storage with SunPower's leading Equinox system, we are confident in our ability to meet growing consumer demand for solar-plus-storage and further adoption of sustainable technologies by homeowners across the country," Norman Taffe, SunPower's executive vice president for residential solar, said in a June 13 news release.

In May, sonnen and Shell Ventures announced a $71 million strategic investment for accelerating the global expansion and delivery of cleaner energy solutions. In March, Itron Inc. also collaborated with sonnen for the integration of battery storage with its distributed energy management and demand response solutions.
