Stanmore Coal Ltd. said Aug. 30 that it had revised its open-cut coal reserves estimate at the Isaac Plains Complex composed of the Isaac Plains and Isaac Plains East coal projects in Queensland, Australia, to about 13 million tonnes, with marketable coal reserves standing at 10 million tonnes, 12.6% lower than its assessment in August 2018. The company cited mining depletion and removal of reserves contained in the S3 pit at Isaac Plains for the revision.
The updated marketable coal reserves is composed of 9.6 million tonnes of semisoft coking coal and 400,000 tonnes of thermal coal, lower than the 10.9 million tonnes of semisoft coking coal and 600,000 tonnes of thermal coal estimated last year.
Broken down, total coal reserves estimate at Isaac Plains mine was about 1.1 million tonnes, while the estimate at Isaac Plains East was 11.9 million tonnes.
The updated reserve estimate is included in the May 2018 resource estimate of 82.2 million tonnes, which remains unchanged.
The Isaac Plains Mine suspended mining in the third quarter of the current fiscal year, while Isaac Plains East started operating in the first quarter.
