XL Catlin has opened a political risk, credit and bond insurance practice in Canada, the company's first there.

The practice will be led by Marvin Azzopardi, who was appointed senior underwriter. He comes to XL Catlin from Zurich Insurance Group Ltd., where he led the company's credit and political risk underwriting team in Canada.

XL Catlin is the global brand used by XL Group Ltd's insurance and reinsurance companies.
