PartnerRe CFO retiring; successor named

PartnerRe Ltd. Executive Vice President and CFO Mario Bonaccorso will retire from the company March 31, 2020, and will be succeeded by Zurich Insurance Group AG executive Nicolas Burnet.

Bonaccorso will pursue a new entrepreneurial venture with financial support from Exor, PartnerRe's parent company. He will be invited to join the PartnerRe board of directors as a nonvoting observer.

Burnet will join the company Feb. 3, 2020, and will be appointed CFO effective April 1, 2020. He was most recently group head of planning and performance management at Zurich. Burnet has also been chief risk officer and CFO for global life and CFO for general insurance.

Additionally, the reinsurer will appoint Andrew Gibbs executive vice president and COO, effective Oct. 14. The newly created position will have responsibility over the company's end-to-end underwriting processes, including underwriting support, reinsurance accounting, claims, payments and collections, as well as its legal, compliance and internal audit services.

Gibbs joins from Maiden Reinsurance Ltd., where he has been executive chairman since January.
