Vestas secures 60-MW turbine order for 2 wind farms in Finland

Nordic developer OX2 Group AB has selected Vestas Wind Systems A/S to supply 60 MW of turbines for two merchant onshore wind farms in western Finland.

Under the agreement, Vestas will supply, install and commission the V150 4.2-MW turbines at the Kröpuln and Storbacken wind projects, according to a Sept. 2 release. Turbine delivery is anticipated in the second quarter of 2021, with commissioning scheduled for the third quarter of the same year.

U.K. investor Infracapital — which is the infrastructure equity investment arm of M&G Prudential, the European savings and investments business of Prudential PLC — recently acquired the two wind farms from OX2 for undisclosed terms. The projects will be realized on a merchant basis, without any direct financial support from the Finnish government.
